Sponge Bob sinks!
This should be a perfect kid's rod - my grandson is 5 and we took him fishing for the first time last week - the rod was a perfect size for him and he managed the casting and reeling in just perfectly - - however - after about 8 casts - he was no longer able to reel in the line -it just sat there no matter how he cranked in the reel - all of the adults tried to fix the rod - - to no avail - - there were no backlashes on the line - nothing - it just broke - - fortunately we were able to get him a regular adult rod that he could manage and he caught his first fish - a rainbow trout!

Perfect for the little girl "fisherman"
I bought this for my granddaughter so that she could go fishing with daddy. The set arrived quickly in perfect condition. My granddaughter practiced and practiced her casting and then did go fishing with daddy. Unfortunately she didn't catch anything but the rod and reel are very cute, sturdy....perhaps the next time they go fishing she'll get the "catch of the day."

Shakespeare Fishing Pole
This fishing pole was a gift, the second Shakespear fishing pole we have purchased, one for our first granddaughter (which has caught many trout in Vermont) and now one for our second granddaughter. Although we have no history with this particular purchase, we have no reason to think that it will not perform as expected. Shakespeare fishing poles like these work just like the "big kids" poles, and we have been more than pleased with past experience.

A Piece of Junk
I had a couple of Zebco spincast rods and reels similar to this when I was a kid. They were generally reliable, so I thought one of these would make a good first rod for my 5 year old daughter. But I picked this model up for her last weekend and it just doesn't work. Sometimes it will cast as far as 4 or 5 feet. Most of the time it locks up and does nothing at all, even though I am operating the thing properly.
This reel is unfortunately a completely piece of junk. Literally, you'd be better off tying some line to a flexible stick.

The Low down about fishing tackle
The Low down about fishing tackle
The many fundamental piece of gear required for fishing may be fishing tackle. Fishing tackle may be a generic term which refers toward supplies like lures, bait, lines, rods, reels, nets and trawls, downriggers, outriggers, gaffs, harpoons, clevises, floats, in addition to traps.
The kind of fishing tackle that you may need depends on the sort of fish that you are angling toward catch. It will also be dictated by your experience in fishing. A fishing tackle is as simple as a soda can with fishing line attached to it, or a pole having a line tied to the end. These easy forms of fishing tackle are used to fish next to the bank.
Advanced users may want to consider a rod and reel arrangement. This kind of fishing tackle utilizes reels to keep plenty of line. This allows you to cast your line further. A rod and reel arrangement is essential for fishing in deeper waters and for tackling greater fish. You can find numerous different kinds of fishing tackle which use the rod and reel arrangement. The four simple types are: spin cast, spinning, bait cast, and fly casting. For more info, visit our website my used fishing tackle
Spin cast
Spin cast fishing tackle is perfect for newbies as it is uncomplicated to make use of, following a bit of practice. to catch fish such as bluegill, crappie, and other pan fish.
Spinning
Spinning fish tackle is so named because the casting reels spool spins as the line is cast out. The design is similar to spin casting fishing tackle except that the reel is usually mounted on the underside of the handle and also the line is unveiled by using the index finger. This sort of design takes a bit of practice, as well as is merely endorsed for more superior users. The benefit of a spinning tackle is that it allows you to cast your line over a greater distance and lets you use several fishing lines.
Bait casting
Bait casting is among the most difficult forms of fishing tackle to use. As the line is controlled by your thumb, you have to put in many hours of practice to make sure that you can control the line correctly. The advantage of bait casting is that it gives you an unbelievable quantity of accuracy and control. In reality bait casting will be the preferred process of fishing tackle for pro bass fishing.
